We drove up to Queenstown friday night and had dinner. There were two live bands going right next to the lake on the wharf. One a DJ with some crazy dance music and the other three ladies singing all American cover songs. There were tons of people from all different walks of life. There was supposed to be around 30,000 people there but Michael and I guessed it was closer to 15,000still a lot of people for a tiny mountain town. We danced our way into the new year on the wharf in a sea of other teens and twenty somethings bouncing into each other. Right at midnight they lit off fireworks from the barge in the middle of the bay. It was quite spectacular.
Then yesterday I spent most of the day fishing and caught two of the biggest fish of my life, both brown trout in a matter of two hours. I didn't have my big camera just my phone and I forgot to bring the card to transfer from micro SD to mini SD that fits in my computer so pictures will have to wait. The bigger one was 23-24 inches and weighed around 5lbs. I tried to stand in the river and grab it but my hand wouldn't fit around it so I had to drag him onto the rocks. I should buy a net but they cost $140.
Going to go look for a hike this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a great 2011.
Happy New Year Jer and Mike! Sounds like you had a great evening and champion fishing marathons!
